1. Scope and controller
This notice covers yourneeds.app, sonora.yourneeds.app, klofinder.yourneeds.app, story.yourneeds.app and the associated Pages address, yourneeds.pages.dev. The controller is Jan Hartmann; the address and contact details are provided in the legal notice above.
This notice describes our websites and the Your Choice prototype played in your browser. Data processing by installed Android apps and self-hosted Audiobookshelf servers must be considered separately.
2. Hosting with Cloudflare
The websites are served through Cloudflare Pages and Workers. Saved progress in the protected story is stored in Cloudflare D1. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Requests involve processing your IP address, the requested address, time, and technical connection and browser information. This enables delivery, troubleshooting and protection against attacks.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website. Cloudflare also processes technical traffic and security data. Information about this processing and international transfers is available in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
3. Cookies, embedded content and analytics
Our website code does not set advertising or analytics cookies and contains no tracking scripts of our own. Fonts, graphics and story files are delivered with the website. We do not embed social networks or external video players. This does not affect Cloudflare’s technical processing; Cloudflare may use cookies necessary for security features.
4. Your Choice: a fictional chat
Characters, images and events are fictional. Your replies are not sent to other people as real messages. The free demo covers the first day. Its sequence of choices is stored in the browser tab’s session storage (sessionStorage), so it survives a reload and can be transferred after you sign in. An existing protected save is not overwritten.
The complete story requires an access code. The server checks its hash and, following a successful sign-in, sets a protected, technically necessary session cookie for up to eight hours. Signing out removes this cookie. No account with your name or email address is created. Anyone using the same access code can access the same saved progress, so take care when sharing it.
Under the code ID, the server stores your choice sequence, messages read, pause times, a version number and the last save time. A continuation code refers to the ending reached and the game state. Saved progress persists after you close the browser. Restarting resets the current playthrough; continuation codes already issued remain valid. For questions or a deletion request, use the contact address above.
This processing enables the demo you open, protected access and resuming the story. Optional device notifications require browser permission and work only while the app is open. They do not send chat replies to other people. The technical request data described in section 2 is also processed here.
Message speed, introduction status and your preference for device notifications are stored locally in your browser (localStorage). These preferences persist between visits until you clear the website data in your browser. Saved progress and continuation codes currently have no automatic expiry; you can request their deletion by contacting us.
5. Contact by email
A contact link opens your email program. Only when you send an email do we receive your sender address, message and any attachments. The mailbox [email protected] is provided through Google’s Gmail. We use these data to respond to your request under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies to contract-related enquiries.
Further information about the email service and its international data transfers is available in Google’s privacy policy. Please send only information needed for your enquiry.
6. Downloads and external links
Sonora and Klo Finder downloads link to GitHub. You leave our website only when you follow such a link; the respective provider’s notices then apply. GitHub provides its privacy statement here. Visiting our website does not automatically start a download.
7. Recipients, international processing and retention
The respective hosting and email providers process data for the purposes described above. Processing outside the EU or EEA, particularly in the USA, may take place. The providers explain the transfer mechanisms they use, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, in the notices linked above.
We retain contact enquiries for as long as necessary to deal with them and keep any required records. They are then deleted unless statutory retention obligations apply. Technical data are subject to the providers’ retention periods and security purposes; we do not create a permanent visitor profile of our own.
8. Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may withdraw consent with effect for the future.
Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the place of your habitual residence, workplace or an alleged infringement.
